Oracle ERP and EPM Integrated Architecture for Automotive
How automotive manufacturers can connect plant-floor transactions in Oracle Fusion ERP with planning, consolidation and profitability in Oracle Cloud EPM, and why that link matters during the shift to electric vehicles.

Why ERP and EPM belong together in automotive
Automotive finance has to connect two worlds that are often run in separate systems: plant-floor execution and executive planning. The guide argues for a single data thread between them, so that manufacturing costs can be traced to corporate margin targets, and so that the financial impact of the move from combustion to electric platforms can be modelled on real actuals rather than estimates.
Oracle Fusion ERP: the transactional base
- General Ledger – multi-GAAP support for a global plant footprint.
- Payables and procurement – just-in-time supply chain orchestration and landed cost management.
- Fixed Assets – lifecycle management for dies, tooling and robotic assets.
- Receivables – dealer billing, incentives and mobility-as-a-service revenue.
Oracle Cloud EPM: strategic performance
- Planning (EPBCS) – long-range planning for EV battery R&D and workforce transition.
- Consolidation (FCCS) – global multi-entity close with automated intercompany eliminations.
- Profitability (PCM) – margin analysis by vehicle line, region and distribution channel.
The data thread between ERP and EPM
Three integration patterns close the loop between transactions and plans:
- Direct sync – ledger balances are pushed automatically to EPM for the month-end close.
- Drill-back – from an EPM figure back to the ERP source documents behind it.
- Write-back – approved budgets flow back to the ERP for budgetary control.
Planning for the EV transition
EPM Planning is used to model scenarios such as the capitalisation of software and battery R&D, R&D investment alternatives and supply chain disruptions, using real-time actuals from the ERP as the starting point.
Global consolidation
FCCS provides a pre-built consolidation engine for a global automotive footprint: automatic matching and elimination of high-volume intercompany parts trade, translation of subsidiary results, and ready-made reporting for ESG and IFRS 16, with traceability from consolidated net income down to plant work orders.
Profitability and cost allocation
Profitability and Cost Management allocates shared service and IT costs back to vehicle platforms and regional sales units. Overlaying warranty, logistics and sales incentive data on manufacturing actuals helps identify which vehicles and configurations are actually unprofitable.
Reconciliation and compliance
| Objective | Standard | How Account Reconciliation (ARCS) supports it |
|---|---|---|
| Intercompany balancing | BEPS / OECD | Automated high-volume matching |
| Warranty accruals | ASC 606 | Transaction-level certification workflow |
| Inventory valuation | LIFO / FIFO | Risk-based reconciliation of ERP subledgers |
| Cash visibility | SOX 404 | Automated bank reconciliation |
Sustainability reporting
Oracle Narrative Reporting can combine financial actuals with carbon footprint data, so progress toward carbon neutrality and supply chain transparency is reported with the same rigour and audit trail as the financial results.
